1810 8-reales (imaginary bust) coin knife

Handmade from a genuine antique silver Ocho-Reales Spanish colonial coin minted in Lima in 1810. Features a likeness of Ferdinand VII. What's fascinating is the portrait of Ferdinand on the coin. Typically when a new Spanish king came to the throne, portraits were painted and sent out to the mints so that new dies could be cut with the correct likeness. However, Ferdinand VII's ascent to the throne in 1808, was disputed, and so the new portraits were delayed. Instead of waiting, the mint in Peru carved an "imagined" portrait. It's thought that a Peruvian Indian posed for the portrait!

Small Folding Knife - Yucatecan Red Deer Horn - O1 (French Grey)

Slip-joint folding knife with a 2.25" flat ground blade. The 3/32" O1 steel blade and spring have a "French Grey" finish - a surface treatment often used on highly engraved shotguns and rifles. It offers some protection from rust and oxidation, but just as on a fine firearm, I'd still suggest keeping it lightly oiled or waxed. Handle of Yucatecan Red Deer Horn. Closed length - 3.5" Brass liners and Nickel Silver pins. Silver 1926 ten centavo escutcheon. Geometric pattern file worked blade with thumb grooves. Hand stitched hair-on bull hide leather pouch stitched with calf leather Spanish edge lacing. (SOLD)
